Hamburgensien

Hamburgensien is the term used for art objects, books, and graphics of all types that have the theme of the Hanseatic city of Hamburg’s cultural history in the widest sense. Especially the work of the Hamburg siblings Christoffer Suhr (1771-1842), Cornelius Suhr (1781-1857), and Peter Suhr (1788-1857) is inseparably linked with concept of Hamburgensie, making the lithographs, engravings, drawings, and paintings in this category famous far beyond the borders of Hamburg. A famous collection of Hamburgensien by Hamburg artist Ebba Tesdorpf (1851-1920) is found in the Museum for Hamburgian History (also called the Hamburg Museum).
