1937 Southampton
Allen Jones was born on September 1, 1937 in Southampton. From 1955 to 1960 he studied art at the Hornsey College of Art and later at the Royal College of Art in London.
After his studies in 1964 Jones went to New York for two years, where he was decisively influenced by American Pop Art. During the subsequent years, Allen Jones regularly received teaching assignments at various universities.
Allen Jones, who now lives in London, is seen as a very influential artist of British Pop Art. He also became famous for his provoking, and often very erotic pictures and sculptures.
